Dinner Decider™ ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect your information when you use our app and website at dinnerdeciderapp.com.
Information We Collect
- Email address and username when you create an account
- Meal preferences and food lists you enter into the app
- Voice input when you use the microphone feature (processed by Deepgram)
- Payment information when you subscribe (processed securely by Stripe — we never store your card details)
- AI generated meal suggestions when you use the Use What I Have feature (processed by Anthropic Claude)
- Your approximate location or zip code when you use the Takeout feature, to find nearby restaurants — this is requested from your device and only used in the moment to return local results
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve the Dinner Decider™ service
- To manage your account and subscription
- To process payments securely through Stripe
- To save your meal preferences across sessions
- To find nearby restaurant options when you use the Takeout feature, using your location or zip code
Location Data
When you use the Takeout feature, we request access to your device's location or ask you to enter your zip code in order to show you nearby restaurant options.
- We only access your location when you actively use the Takeout feature — we do not track your location in the background
- Location data is used solely to find restaurants near you and is not stored on our servers after your session ends
- We collect your approximate location at the zip code level — we do not store precise GPS coordinates
- You may deny location permission in your device settings at any time; the Takeout feature will ask you to enter your zip code manually instead
- Your location information is never sold or shared with advertisers
Data Storage
Your meal data and account information are stored securely on our servers. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Third Party Services
We use the following third party services:
- Stripe — payment processing (stripe.com/privacy)
- Deepgram — voice recognition (deepgram.com/privacy)
- Anthropic — AI meal suggestions (anthropic.com/privacy)
Analytics
We use Firebase Analytics, a service provided by Google LLC, to understand how users interact with the App. This helps us improve features and user experience.
The information collected may include:
- Which screens and features you use (such as tabs and toggles within the App)
- Your interactions with app content (such as tapping recipe links)
- General app usage patterns (such as session length and frequency)
- Device information (such as device type and operating system version)
- General location information (at the country or region level)
- App performance and crash data
This data is collected in a form that does not directly identify you personally. Firebase Analytics data is retained according to Google's default retention settings, currently 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted.

How to Delete Your Account and Data
You can delete your account directly within the Dinner Decider app at any time by going to Settings and selecting Delete Account.
If you're unable to access the app, you can also request account deletion by emailing office@dinnerdeciderapp.com with the subject line 'Delete My Account,' including the email address associated with your account. We will process your request and delete your account and all associated personal data within 30 days.
Your Rights
You may request deletion of your account and personal data at any time by contacting us at dinnerdeciderteam@gmail.com.
Children's Privacy
Dinner Decider™ is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email.
